New York City CLIMATE STRIKE-Friday September 20

2:00 PM – Assemble at Foley Square
1:00 PM – March to Battery Park
3:30 – 5:00 PM – Rally at Battery Park

On Friday, September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in NYC, young people and adults will strike all across the US and world to demand transformative action be taken by our world’s governments to address the climate crisis.  New York City’s youth will join this global movement, exerting pressure on the September 23rd UN Climate Summit.  September 20th, marks the 2nd anniversary of Hurricane Maria. Activists of the Puerto Rican Diáspora will join forces with the Climate Strike to commemorate the 4,645 lives lost from Maria, and call on the government to #CanceltheDebt that’s been exacerbated by the climate crisis and the corporations fueling it. No longer can we allow the fossil fuel and agricultural lobbies to control the climate change debate.  Instead, we are holding our governments morally accountable to youth and the already numerous victims of the crisis.  Join us.
